To Teach the Truth – The Campaign for the Future

Introduction | The Project | Campaign Leadership | Floor Plans | Alumnae Hall | Donor Information and Recognition | Campaign Update | How you can help

A capital campaign to improve the facilities for the students at St. Cecilia Academy and Overbrook School.

Introduction

For over 140 years, St. Cecilia Academy has offered the women of Nashville a strong college preparatory curriculum in a Christ-centered, caring environment. To guarantee that this tradition of excellence continues into the new millennium, we are committed to making the St. Cecilia of tomorrow a reality today.

Through the hard work and generous gifts of many parents, alumnae, staff and friends, St. Cecilia is preparing for the future with a $5.8 million building addition that will provide new, science and technology oriented state-of the-art facilities for working, teaching and learning as well as a new kitchen and dining hall.

The Project

Phase I: A new Science and Administration building, measuring nearly 24,000 square feet, will provide:

Research Center:
State-of-the-art classrooms will provide lecture and demonstration space as well as highly sophisticated equipment for research projects to help our students better prepare for college-level science courses.

Physics, Biology and Chemistry Centers:
New, dedicated classrooms with lecture and demonstration space including labs equipped with sophisticated instruments and computer technology.

Environmental Laboratory:
This unique lab will give students the opportunity to study live plants and small animal life in a school setting and to learn the sophisticated art of hydroponics gardening and environmental conservation.

Computer Technology Center:
This lab will be equipped with the latest in computer technology and equipment. Destined to become one of the busiest places on campus, the center will assist in integrating technology across the curriculum.

Conference and Lecture Hall:
This high-tech classroom will allow us to host guest lecturers via videoconferencing and live presentations

Newly Renovated Classrooms:
After the addition is complete, many current classrooms will become available and will be renovated to provide flexible space for other curricular areas.

Main Entrance Hall:
A beautiful new main entrance to be named “Alumnae Hall” in honor of our past students, will communicate that St. Cecilia is a place of beloved tradition and innovative learning. Also, through this addition, all areas of the school will become accessible to people with disabilities.

Administrative Center:
The new Administrative Center will house administrative and enrollment offices near the main entrance of the new wing.
This central location will be more convenient for parents and students, and will facilitate collaboration and communication throughout the school

Phase II: Dining Hall and Kitchen:

In response to parent concerns, the project includes new and improved dining facilities and a new , larger kitchen. St. Cecilia and Overbrook School will have separate dining and serving facilities that are designed with the flexibility to be joined into one area for large events.

Alumnae Hall

The highlight of the construction plans is a beautiful new main lobby that will create a well-defined main entrance for the school. Although there are several naming opportunities attached to the entire project, it is our vision to name the lobby “Alumnae Hall”. The St. Cecilia Alumnae Association is actively working to raise the $500,000 needed to make this dream come true!

Imagine, a modern and welcoming open area where students and staff could gather, relax for a moment or wait for a ride. Visitors and guests could enjoy the history of St. Cecilia as the built-in display cases can be filled with St. Cecilia memorabilia from years past. Additionally, permanent donor recognition plaques will be displayed prominently to recognize contributors to the project.
