On Thursday, October 19, St. Cecilia Academy hosted the fourth annual middle school "Math is 4 Girls" competition. This was an opportunity for middle school girls who enjoy and excel in math to participate in a day of hands-on activities and competition in the field of mathematics. Participants included 104 6th -8th grade girls from 14 area middle schools.

Keaton Bright, Madelina Huffman, and Joanna Jones were accepted to the MTVA Freshman Honors Choir. Sophomore Chelsea Dongas was accepted to the MTVA Mid-State Festival Choir and the MTVA All-State Choir.

What do a PhD in mathematics, a PhD in chemistry, and an astrophysicist have in common? They are all Dominican Sisters who are teaching at St. Cecilia Academy this year! Sister Nicholas Marie, Sister Mary Albert, and Sister Albertine bring to St. Cecilia an inspiring enthusiasm for all things STEM.

On Wednesday, August 30, a crowd of men streamed through halls typically reserved for girls only, as dads turned out in force for the Dominican Dads 2017-2018 kick-off event at St. Cecilia Academy. Over 60 men from St. Cecilia, Overbrook, and surrounding parishes and schools came together to enjoy good food and fellowship while also getting serious about their vocation as husbands and fathers.

Corinne Baroni attended the United States Air Force Academy Summer Seminar in Cool Springs, Colorado and Grace Laster attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

The excitement mounts daily at St. Cecilia Academy where students and faculty are preparing for the total solar eclipse set to occur on Monday, August 21, 2017. Tennessee is one of 14 states that will experience approximately two minutes of darkness. Students and teachers at St. Cecilia are preparing eagerly to see this once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.

Led by the 2017 St. Cecilia Girl, Valedictorian, and Salutatorian, the 70 graduating seniors of St. Cecilia Academy earned over $16.2 million in merit scholarships. These young women will attend 46 colleges across 22 states.

Zoe Dongas was named valedictorian, Nicole Chandonnet was named salutatorian, and Brianne Kendall was named St. Cecilia Girl, considered the school's top honor for a graduating senior.
