St. Cecilia Academy and Overbrook School Inaugural Christmas Tree Lighting

Inaugurating a new tradition, Christmas lights and wreaths decorated the entrance of the Dominican Campus on Friday, December 1. The aroma of s'mores, candy canes, and hot chocolate filled the air. In the midst of family of friends of Overbrook School and St. Cecilia Academy gathered on the front campus lawn, stood a 25 foot, live Christmas tree ready to light the faces of the campus community.

Thanks to a generous donor who loves Christmas, St. Cecilia Academy and Overbrook School were gifted with a 25 feet "Green Giant Arborvitae" Christmas Tree and Christmas lighting. Preparations began in November with the arrival and planting of the tree and the arrangement of the lights. Overbrook principal, Sister Julia Marie said, "We were delighted to host this event and share this display as a gift to the community. It's a beautiful testament of our schools' strong Christian beliefs and ultimately our mission to bring students closer to Christ."

Students from Overbrook's choir welcomed the crowd with a Christmas melody. Principals Sister Julia Marie and Sister Anne Catherine introduced Father Andrew Bulso, an Overbrook 2001 graduate, currently serving at St. Henry who offered a blessing of the Christmas tree and the families gathered. With the lighting of the tree, the crowd gasped with delight at the magical scene under a full moon and rejoiced with the singing of "Silent Night" led by the St. Cecilia Glee Club.

"As Christmas becomes an increasingly secular hustle and bustle time, it is great to come together as a campus family to recall that Christ is the reason for the season," said St. Cecilia principal Sister Anne Catherine.
