Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week: Olivia McClure

Olivia McClure is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Olivia is a junior and the number one player on the tennis team this year. When asked about Olivia, head coach Helen Neuhoff said, "As a freshman and sophomore, Olivia played the number 2 position behind her sister and now she is very deserving of the number one spot. Olivia's skill level, dedication to the game, attitude, and influence raise the level of play for all of her teammates. We are very excited to have her back again this year and are looking forward to great things from Olivia." We sat down with Olivia to find out what makes her such a dedicated and influential teammate.

Question: How long have you been playing this sport?
Answer: I have been playing tennis as long as I can remember, probably since I was about 8 years old.

Question: What do you love most about this sport?
Answer: I love the competitive nature of the individual aspect of tennis.

Question: Do you have any pregame rituals or traditions?
Answer: We always pray together before hand and eat together after.

Question: Do you have plans to compete collegiately?
Answer: Possibly.

Question: How close are you all as a team?
Answer: Very close. We have so much fun playing together.

Question: What is your favorite TV show?
Answer: America's Got Talent

Question: What are the top 5 songs on your playlist right now?
Answer: Anything by DJ Khaled

Question: What is your favorite snack food?
Answer: Pretzels

Question: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
Answer: Bruno Marz

Question: What are your goals for this season?
Answer: To continue improving and have a better record than last year.

Question: What do you attribute your success to?
Answer: Lots of hard work and practice. Also my dad.

Question: What do you love most about being a Scarab?
Answer: The people here are so nice. Plus it is academically challenging and I enjoy that.
