St. Cecilia Academy News
St. Cecilia Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that three students, Catherine Johnson, Jule Voss and Caitrin Salem have been recognized for their outstanding achievement by the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Catherine and Jule have been named as Semifinalists, which means they will continue on to compete for the Finalist Scholarship that is awarded in the spring of 2019. Caitrin has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Student.
These three St. Cecilia Academy seniors are among the nearly 1.6 million juniors in 22,000 high schools that entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test through their high scores on the PSAT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state's percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.
"We are so proud of these students," said SCA principal Sister Anna Laura, O.P. "They are outstanding examples of the Dominican ideal to seek truth and to put their gifts at the service of others."
