Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week: Shelby Mryncza
Shelby Mryncza is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Shelby is a junior and the #1 runner on the Varsity Cross Country team. When asked about Shelby her coaches said, "Shelby is an amazing runner, but more importantly she is a vital leader of the team. She has really stepped up this year and embraced the role of an upperclassman and a leader. Not only does she always work hard, she is constantly cheering and motivating the other girls on the team." We sat down with Shelby to find out what makes her such a great teammate.
Question: How long have you been running Cross Country?
Answer: Since seventh grade.
Question: What do you love most about this sport?
Answer: It is very rewarding. If you put in the time and effort, your hard work will pay off.
Question: Do you have any pregame rituals or traditions?
Answer: I like to mentally prep for each race by visualizing the course and how I will do.
Question: Do you have plans to compete collegiality?
Question: How close are you all as a team?
Answer: Very close. We are always together.
Question: What are your goals for this season?
Answer: To continue to improve and run a PR at the Steeplechase course.
Question: What is your favorite TV show?
Answer: That 70's Show.
Question: What is the top song on your playlist right now?
Answer: Anything by ELO.
Question: What is your favorite snack food?
Answer: Mint Chocolate Chip Cliff Bar
Question: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
Answer: My Granny.
Question: What do you attribute your success to?
Answer: My supportive parents.
Question: What do you love most about being a Scarab?
Answer: It is a friendly, loving environment. SCA really enables us to grow in all aspects of our lives.
